Throttle lock or not 3 Years, 9 Months ago
I spend quite a bit of time on the open road and get hand cramps holding the throttle. Here in Missouri we have a lot of hills so I am not sure if a throttle lock would work or some other product. I have seen devices in J&P and not sure what is the best. Any ideas would be helpful. I ride an 07 roadie Bob

Bofish,
I've used a Vista Cruise throttle lock for years and love it!! It's not a true "cruise control", so it won't hold speed while going up hill, but it'll hold a pretty steady speed on level road long enough to give your hand a break.

BTW; where in Missouri are you from? I'm from St. Charles, just outside St. Louis....

I received a cruise control for Christmas and really like it. It will not adjust your speed when you go up and down hills.

One thing I liked was that you don't have to drill any holes in your OEM equipment to install it. It disengages by pressing a small thumb switch or when you pull the front brake.

I am in lebanon about 120 miles from St Charles on I44. Where would I get a Vista Cruise? Are you going to Star Days? Thanks for the help. Bob

Bob,
I know exactly where Lebanon is; I pass through there a couple of times a year. I have family in SE Kansas, so I've traveled I44 more times than I care to remember. Most of the time I'll get off and ride sections of old Rt 66 as much as possible.

As for where to find a Vista Cruise, I imagine most dealerships will carry them. Or do a search on-line. The one I got (which I've had for about 8 years) is the Universal model, and came with adapters to fit various sizes of handlebars.

Here's a link; http://www.aerostich.com/catalog/US/Universal-Vista-Cruise-Control-p-17004.html

While it's not as nice as the Break-away model, the Vista Cruise is a bargin (IMO) for $34. And to make it a little nicer looking and to blend in better with the switch housing, I painted the black pieces a metalic silver...

I doubt I'll be going to Star Days this year. To be honest, I don't even know when or where it's being held....

Take care and ride safe..... And

In The Wind,
Aaron

Hey Bofish. I have Carple Tunnel in both wrist. Those long rides killed me. I Finaly put on a Brake Away System. It's been great. To disingadge either by Brake Lever or Thumb button. It works for me!!

I use a Throttle Rocker. Fits on the end of the grip with velcro. No "locking" mechanism. Here in the snowshine state (Wisconsin) we get limited riding so I figure why spend good cash for a relatively short season? (frozen smiley goes here) Actually it works good for me as most of my riding is short hops anyway. On long crises I'm okay with it.
