Bike lowering question 4 Years, 10 Months ago
I purchased the slam package from pacific road star and I call to yamaha service to have it installed tomorrow. They are telling me that I need to change the kickstand to a short one or modify the existing one, is this true?

Thanks,

you dont have to, but it is recommended for the stabilty factor when on the stand, i did the flip (its free) but didnt change the stand, when i lower the front, i probably will though

If it was me, I'd change it to the shorter stand. Your scoot won't lean as much otherwise, and as much as it weighs, I'd rather keep it leaning like it's supposed to. My 2 cents.

FYI, I took the bike to the local dealer, the switch the spring and the dogbones, and they did not change the kickstand, but they bent it a little bit so it stands better.

I will post pictures later.

Thanks all and best regards.

Pictures would be good..I have the same kit. I have been holding off, I am afraid I be dragging my pipes. I may just install the progressive spring and live with it.

I have the Barons kit on mine and I did not change the
kick stand. It still leans quite a bit. Have never
had an issues even with the bars turned to the right.
I have V&H Longshots and have never scraped my pipes.
The boards always hit first. I am an aggressive
rider and lean very far when cornering.

i aint ever scraped my pipes, the floorboards once, you really have to just be aware of your bike, but it handles better

I think the stand is far enough forward that it is not affected too much, now if you lower the front also, that's a different story..
