New RoadStar Owner With Fairing Questions 3 Months, 4 Weeks ago

Hello everyone,
New RoadStar owner here. I've had it since April, and I can't believe how excited I get, before every ride. Man, this bike is awesome. Alot of questions here, sorry.
I have a few questions for those of you with a fairing on your bikes. I currently own an 07, Midnight Siverado and I'm considering replacing the windshield for a fairing. I had to put 4" risers on the bars, for comfort (I'm 6'4" as my knees would hit the grips on sharper turns, the height is just right now. I'm wondering if the new riser height would screw up my access to the cd/radio on any new fairing, as I'm assuming they're designed for stock risers. Which aftermarket fairing would you guys suggest and why. Is there a fairing with a higher cutout for the radio, or is there one that would allow me to cut out my own? My head is spinning as all the different manufacturers I've researched claim they make the best fairing, but none have returned my calls. Also, Should I even entertain installing a HD fairing, as I can get a good deal on one? Thanks guys.

I researched a bunch of fairings on the web before i purchased mine. I got a Permeux
http://www.premeux.com/Home.asp in Drummondville (Quebec) Canada. You can order it with a radio, or just have them put a radio box on it and you can add your own. I never did. I use the box as a glove box and I don't miss the radio. The quality is good but it does need to be painted. The fitment is real good and bolts on the the windshield mount and it has two additional holes to mount it to the upper two bolts of the fork for added stability. It took about a month, if i remember correctly, and payment is up front. Shipping to the states was a bit high, but since you'r in their own back yard it might be cheaper. I've had mine for two seasons and really enjoy it. It was a bit pricy, but cheaper than quadzilla. Serge, i believe the owner, answered all my questions i sent via e-mail. I can certainly recommend them based on the service they provided me. The painter mentioned how nice a quality product it was also.
Anyway, hope this helps. I know your pain as i too took awhile to make my decision.

I have the Wide Open custom fairing. You can get it with or with out a radio. The box is already cut for it. If you dont get the radio it comes with a plug. It comes with two bottom plates. One that has a small tray and one that is flat. If you use the flat one and mount the fairing on its higher setting, I believe you can use the 4" risers. No way you could do it with the one with the tray. They have cheap windshields but workable. the fairing though is of high quality. I would remind you that with the higher handle bars they will probably be above the edges of the fairing, something to keep in mind.

I saw a premeux fairing on a Vulcan a week ago and I like it. It was one of the companies I didn't call. I'll give him a call this week, and if all goes well, I'll order and pick it up on my next trip to Montreal at the end of August. The radio is something I want in a fairing. and I realize my grips may be higher, and it may be a bit goofy, but I'll have to live with it, as the look of the bike with a fairing, and the increased wind protection is what I'm really after. Thanks all for your help.
