Rails came in today, but the crash bar is back ordered until Sept 17th. I can't believe that. 2 months for the crash bar. I have found them on Ebay but I dont know if they are the same or not.

I recieved in the mail a coupon for $50.00 off any order over $250.00 from Yamaha. On the coupon is a pic. of a roadstar with the hardbag trim rails. I called my local dealer to order a set and he didn't have any info. on them. I called the dealer a town over and they told me they would be available at the end of August. Cost-$299.99. A week later my local dealer called and said those were "custom made" for that bike only! Now I'm seeing them on bikes on this forum? What gives? I will keep checking around I guess.

Those guards and rails are offered as options for the Road Star. I like them, but each (guard and rail) were priced at about $200 per set.

I think the guards and rails look great. I would like to have a set to put on my Road Star. I have been looking at a set that my friend has on his Royal Star. I was wondering if the guards would work on mine because the bags are a bit different.

The cataolg says they only work with RS hard bags or silverado leather bags. The black saddle bag mount kit they require is PN STR-5GA73-40-00.

If you already have either the Silverado Bags or the hard bags on your bike, you don't need the mounts! They are already installed.... the guards mount to the saddle bag mounts. You just take your bags off, mount the guard and put your bag back on.

Nah.... he's wrong. They are not one off's or custom made. They are factory parts. Your dealer should be able to get them. By the way... The total price I paid was $491.55. The rear guards were $269.96 and the trim rails were $179.96. The dealer gave me a 10% discount so that helped!

So do the trim rails slip into or attach to the guards somehow? Do you have to have the guards for the trim rails to fit correctly?
