Looking for a 45mm flatside... 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago

I'm shopping around for a 45mm Mikuni flatside and I've found that you can get them for HD for about half as much as anyone is charging for the one specifically for our bike. The first and easiest question is, "Will any work?" Now the question that allows me to do the legwork is, "Where's a part number index where I can cross reference HD carbs to the one I need to see if they're selling the same one and just charging more for it?" Finally, is there anywhere I can check external dimensions to bypass all that and determine if it will physically work, regardless of what it was made for?

It will work ... sort of .... you'll have to fab up the cable connections at the carb.

CruzN , is your motor built to the point were it needs the 45? If not , they can be more trouble than it's worth. BB

I'm in the process of gathering parts. I had the Speedstar Stage IV clutch and oil pump gear installed for free with the recall. As it stands, I'm still not very impressed with the power of the bike (even with the very noticeable jump in compression with the new piston rings), so I'm looking to do a 110ci big bore eventually. I'd just like to have all the parts in a bin so I can do the big bore, flatside carb, ported manifold, valve springs, cams, Dyna 3k, etc. all at the same time. All I haven't really made up my mind on is what intake I'm going to run and whether or not I want to go with oversized valves from PR. There's a substantial price jump there.

Since I'm going to be changing bars and these Kury Isos leave black crap on my hand from some kind of chemical breakdown, shouldn't I be able to just use HD grips and switch housings (I know I'll have to chop the bars down a little for fitment), which would have me using the correct cables for the HD carburetor? If that were the case, it would be basically a bolt-on affair, wouldn't it?

Yes ... you can put HD controls on and run an HD throttle, so in that case ..... no problems. .... well maybe not ... there's always a hiccup somewhere.
