Cobra Power Pro 2-Into-1 3 Months ago
Was curious if anyone is running or has run the Cobra Power Pro 2-Into-1 Exhaust System part #2421 on their roadstar. If so how is the sound and performance? Also the quality of the Cobra Pipes and are the baffle removable, etc???

Thanks

Yes I did have it as you can see in pic. The sound was loud but throaty. Gave the bike a real thump without the sharp crack of the shot guns. Performance was noticably better. Quality was perfect no issues at all. Assembly was perfect. Baffles can be removed but are not meant to be really. You need a slide hammer to get it out and then there is nothing you can do with it anyway. The baffle has almost no packing in it. About an inch at the exit end is all there is. The baffle depends on the hole pattern.

My recommendation is if you ride alone then you can't go wrong. If you ride 2 up a lot then don't do it. The passenger will get the brunt of the boom. My wife is partially deaf and still had to wear ear plugs because of it. Even the ear plugs did not really help. The driver has no problem with the noise because you are ahead of the pipe. The passenger is directly above it.

Also if you do install put in new exhaust gaskets do not reuse the old ones.
I removed them and put the stock back on to help the wifes hearing.

Thanks for the information Helmut. I want something loud but not overly loud for when the wife rides which is now and then. I am just looking for a bit more than stock stage 3 and some more performance gain so I can tune my carb. better with the BAK.

If you like the 2/1 look.......thought about a V&H propipe? Nice deep tone , with power to boot. BB

Yes I have BigBear. I like the looks and if I am not mistaken the 2/1 setup gives the bike more performance gain over 2/2 setups. Correct? I was looking at the Vance Hines, HK's, but come across a new Cobra Pro 2/1 for under $300 delivered. However I do not want it so loud it bothers the wife when she rides.

I am going to Hawgstock here in Iowa and should be around alot of different setups to get a better sound and feel for what I want. http://www.hawgstock.com/index_old.html

I understand , If Mama ain't happy...... . I found with the propipe , that it offered a great idle , good throttle manners, and "signed off" once you were at speed. My passengers never complained. Will they bark......yes , if called upon. But it's not their characteristic. Power is better than a typical 2/2 set up (that comment should stir up the bee's ) for everyday riding. Some don't like the look. I personally do. And, you can fit bigger bags on, so your better half has some place to put the kitchen sink , when you guys road trip. Check e-bay , and some of the other R* sites for used ones being sold. You can get used for 2-2 1/2 , and your set. I really like the V&H set up , never personally seen or heard a Cobra 2/1 , so I can't speak for them. BB

Re:Cobra Power Pro 2-Into-1 3 Months ago
Bigger set of bags would be nice and is a benefit with lower pipes. I have been running over and over what exhaust I want and come close then back off LOL!!

I found a set of Cobra 2/1's for $275 shipped so thought I would see any feed back. I might just wait till fall and see what comes around with the season winding down and $$ prices cuts.

I ussually am impulsive and have to have it now but then I always second guess what I bought LOL . So am taking it a bit slower on the pipes.

Thanks

I installed the Cobra 2 into 1 onto my XV1600 Road Star last week. I had the pipes fitted by qualified bike mechanic who made some adjustments to carby then run the bike up on the dyno.

There was a slight increase in both HP and torque. The noise was too loud for me so contacted Cobra who informed me they were working on quieter baffles but these would be several weeks away.

I managed to extract the baffle and visited a local muffler shop and was able to get someone to assist me with manufacture of a baffle extension. The result was quite pleasing, it took the edge of the excessive noise while maintaining a nice note.

In summary, unless you are looking for a loud system or are prepared to carry out some modifications, then stay clear of the Cobra 2 into 1 system.

what is loud for some could be quiet for others. I have the Cora 2/1 pro pipe and I love them. They are louder, but not like straight pipes. My wife has not complained. I did kind of set her up to the fact that they were louder, but that this was a safety factor because the people in their cars can hear us coming up on them. A few days later she told me about a motorcycle with loud pipes and how she had heard him coming up. So now she is a proponent of the louder variety.
I encourage you to go to stage 3, but I also encourage you to get the Cobras'. Another nice feature is you can use a larger saddle bag size with the 2/1 design. peace out

I know you didn't ask but I love the HardKrome sideburners, they have a great throaty growl, are as loud as I need them to be, and when cruising seem to quiet down. The performance is noticable over the stock pipes, and the sound always impresses my Harley riding buddies. Plus I love all the chrome!!!
