Well my cousin and I went for about a 50 mile ride just got back.. The pipes woke the bike up big time love the sound nice deep sound and throaty when on the gas.. I have two issues tho.. First is it back fires like hell when I let off the gas.. Loud pops drives me nuts.. I have not capped off the AIS I do have a AIS kit but I thought I read here that the 07 AIS removal kit does NOT work on the 08? Hopefully someone here has done the ais on the 08 can fill me in.
Second thing is when I get on the throttle hard 2nd or 3rd gear towards the higher rpms it just stumbles bad.. Like puts me forward its like it bogs when ripping the throttle..
Other than that man it sounds great when cruising around and the power is much better.. Im thinking the bog is maybe me hitting the rev limiter but I dunno.. I dont have a power commander so i cant adjust anything.

did you install new exhaust gaskets ....check for an exhaust leak...just the slightest and she will back fire like hell..
I am suspecting because o yer fitment problems...
But then again its 08 with FI and we might have fuel mixture issues too  ????? |

I'm guessing you have an exhaust leak.
You probably are hitting the limiter. Nothing about changing the pipes would lower the limit.

Ok so here is a little update for the 08 owners/ AIS issue.
On the front of the motor the sqaure rectifier thing.. I took those two bolts off let that hang down, then followed the metal tubes out of the cylinder heads to the front where they go into two rubber hoses..Then the two hoses connect to two steel nipples behind the rectifier,I disconnected the hoses and I plugged them then slid the little hose clamps.. Took it for a spin and bota bing no more back fire at all.. Runs great now sounds awesome. |

ahh so the AIS is still a big pain in the ass on FI 08's after all.. the AIS is a deliberate exhaust leak of sorts...
