Not sure if this help but I got long shot/drag pipes for my 08.. Made by VH but sells as yamaha speedstar part..
I had to take off the stock mount and mount the supplied VH one.

I have an 03 with V&H longshots but I bought it with them on it so I don't know about the brackets. I did install Cobra longshots on an 05 and they came with their own brackets.

No the longshots use a different mount than stock. It comes with the longshots when you buy them.

Yup, that's correct. My bud bought an '02 with V&H Long Shots on it. Hated how loud they were.

The seller provided the stock exhaust, but when we went to switch them out... he had to buy a stock muffler mount bracket, as the V&H pipes had come with their own.

Most pipes seem to come with a 'custom' mount .... some don't use a mount at all but bolt directly to the frame where the stock mount bolts to the frame.
