Thanks for the information and advice on Khrome Werks exhaust. I couldn't decide which style to order so I order both...just got an '07 and plan to keep it a while. Looking forward to hearing a little more exhaust sound, great bike but just too quiet.

I installed a set of the slash cut ones on mine last week. I love the sound. My cousin who rides with me said that my bike sounds sweet... he followed me all day Saturday so he could listen to them.

Can't go wrong IMHO.

I have tapered and also love the sound. Just have a lot of popping on hard decel. Going to try adjusting PMS once I get my adjustable screw delivered.

On the Khrome Werks site they state that the slash cut mufflers have a revised baffle for decreased popping or backfiring I believe. Mine has only popped a couple of times in the last 400 miles driven.

No other changes to the bike other than the mufflers.

for those of you who have problems separating the headers from the silencers....

when i´m mounting exhaust systems (steel and stainless), i normally put a smear of copper grease (antisieze) on the unions. you get a bit of smoke out the tail pipe when you first fire it up, but that clears within the first couple of miles.
if you need to separate the parts of the exhaust later it comes apart a LOT easier.

To chime in, did stage three on the stock pipes, even took the mufflers off and knocked out the end of the upper pipe (look inside, that seemed like a major restrictor!). Still didnt like the sound so ordered the slash cuts. Put them on last night, no issues (made sure the head pipe didnt touch the brakes as noted in thread). Great packaging, good instructions and sound just exactly like what I was looking for. Great buy IMO

I am looking for something that will let me be heard out there but something that won't make me have to wear earplugs...Are these the pipes for me or does anyone have a recomendation.

  • One more thing, all the pics are those the Khrome Werks that are installed?

Look at Shacky's bike for the tapered and PapaTom's for the slash cut pipes.

Kcschlz2002 these sound good when you roll on the throttle and come down to a nice rumble when you're cruising. I haven't felt the need for earplugs and my wife loves the sound too when we're riding two-up. But that's just my opinion. There are a lot of good pipes out there and you'll get a lot of opinions. But for $100, it was a no-brainer for me.
