They come with screen and packing in the 1" part at the end of the baffle. thats the natural PP sound. I wraped screen around half of the rest of the baffle and the packing material around the same half. Left half open. Did that on my 3rd try. If you wrap the whole thing it gets way toooooo quiet. Use the 4 stroke packing also that BB mentioned. The 2 cycle stuff that looks like shredded Insulation with last about 150 miles and then its all blown out. The good 4 stroke stuff have lasted about 1500 so far and going strong.

Since the baffle is so easy to take out I'll try it stock and see how it sounds. I just got the first stuff I ran in to. If it makes the sound better I'll get the good stuff.

Re:Pro pipe is on 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I bought a new baffle from V & H, it was like 32 bucks. Still in the box though. I am going to take the old one out and have the baffle extended.. then a new "overlaying" pipe over it with more but smaller holes. My goal is to keep about the same back pressure as the stock but lessen the sound without having to use the packing. I got side tracked with my trunk project though. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I always thought that they sounded absolutely fantastic when they were just packed tight at the location at the end of the baffle like they were designed. Try that first , like you mentioned , before you "fab" something extra fancy ......that you don't like. Let us know... BB

It does look like a pretty easy baffle to fiddle with.

I was thinking of some kind of spray on heat resistant stuff to line the can with. I think that would cut down on the hollow sound. Probably never happen though. Be a major pain to get the inside clean enough.

You pack it like it came from the factory and you will lose the tin can sound. Mine never had that.

Nope. Not new. That's why I had to repack the baffle

But the packing that was in there was in pretty sad shape.
