Help please. Handle bar cap question. 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I am in the process of putting on some 13" mini-apes and can not figure out how to get the left-hand chrome cap off the end of the bar. Does it thread on? Is it a tight press-fit?

I did a search first and found some discussions on bar and grip removal but could not find the info I needed on the cap. I really don't want to destroy it getting it off.

Any input would be appreciated.

Pop-Rivet,
The end cap is solid. No allen-head covers. It's the very end of the left-hand grip. I don't know if it makes a difference but it's a 2001.

I'm stuck.

ok I just looked at the parts layout for the 2001 ..now if there is no plug button covering the end cap then it must be a press fit..... it does look like one piece ...

I think it just pops off. when I took mine off, if I remember right, It was a bugger. The rubber has a groove that the end cap is over and keeps the end cap on. Does that make any sense? All I know is that it sucked trying to get that sucker off. Good luck. Sorry I couldn't help you out any more.

Got it!!! Thanks for the assistance Pop Rivet. Just for next time someone asks...the is no allen screw ...it was a press-fit into the end of the bar. I put heavy tape on the outside diameter to get a good grip and slid it right out with the help of some channel-locks.

Thanks again.

Once you do get it off. If you're not going to use it again, You can use it to make a key cover out of it.
