21" in. wheel on stock midnight front end? 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I'm getting ready to mod my bike some more and I'm thinking of going with a 21 in. wheel up front,I also noticed in the Baron's catalogue that there are pre raked front ends for the roadstar for only 800 bones, seems like the bike just sits to low in the front, but I don't want it too high and i thought a bigger wheel on the stock front might jack it too high.Waddaya guys think?

The diameter of the mounted tire depends on the size of the wheel and the profile of the tire but with a 21" you'll most likely go up a bit on the front ... how much depends on the tire.

With 6 degree raked trees, a 21" should bring you back to about stock height 'cause the raked trees lower the front abut 2". You're going to have to do the math once you spec out your parts.

How'd you get yours to stand up in the front Doc? Yours looks like it's been raked.

It's raked 6 degrees and has 4" over on the front forks.

I see,you have the front end look that I'm going for.Did you go with the 6 degree triples from barons or is it a true rake?what size wheel do you have?

I have the first generation Looney raked trees. I did not cut the frame as that puts me into a different insurance class (not that I may not have problems with the raked trees )

I have an 18" wheel up front but the overall diameter is the same as stock.

With the 4"+ it sits about 1.75" higher the OEM at the front peg bolt; a 2"+ would make the bottom of the frame level with the ground.

If you want a fat front end then you need to buy Looney trees as no one else has trees that accommodate the stock tins. Most importantly ... if you lengthen the front end you need custom lower tins, the stock tins will be too short.

Another approach..... instead of lengthening the forks, lower the rear .. but that sits the bike lower.

Mine has already been lowered 2" rear, so I don't think I'll drop it anymore back there.Where did ya get your loony's,barons says their 6 dgrees will fit stock on the star,or is there a hidden bunch of parts I'm gonna have to buy to make them work?

Hey Doc I also wanted to ask you about your bars, how tall are the risers? And while I'm at it,how difficult was it to take off and disable your right brake up front?I'm going to do quite a bit to mine this winter, and I like the stance of yours, aesthetically it's the look I'm after.

I have the Baron's 6" Hot Rod Drag Bars.

For a single setup you just take off one side and run a single line from the MC to the caliper. In this case I've found the best setup is the Warrior MC with an R1 caliper and rotor. If you can get a 6 piston YZF750 caliper it's much better, but they are hard to find and quite expensive.

Thanks Doc.My MC has one line running to a splitter,so i guess I could take the line from there and just plug it right? I have an extra set of barons 6" drag bars that I used on my Volusia before I sold it.They look the same width,I just don't have the studs for them though. The wide bars I have on now I just can't get used to.
