31 tooth pulley question.... 1 Month, 2 Weeks ago
To all you guys running the 31 tooth pulley, Thinking about switching to it... So I can run in high without lugging the motor....say, around 60. Is this possible? Or isnt there that much difference? I dont care about the top end, I got my speed freak on in the 80's. I just wanna cruise comfortably. B.T.W. Dumped my bike Sunday...rear cyl. lockup..AGAIN! Luckily I was at a stop sign making a right hand turn when it did it, and my leg took most of the fall. Thought I really might have messed it up, but when I got it picked up , only the passing lamp visor was bent and 2 very small 1/4 inch scratches on the pipes, not even noticable. Lucky me. They had to call a priest in to the Yami dealer when I was done yesterday. They have it now and it isnt coming back till its fixed PERMANANT!... 06 valves and guides, new grind and the heavy springs should do it. I've done everything else.

I hope they get you fixed. Yamaha really needs to address the 04 and 05 before someone gets seriously hurt. JMO.

BTW... I know it sucks to cruise this way, but if you are running 60 in 5th now, you are probably lugging the motor. Thats pretty border line.

First off , sorry about the incident. Second of all , my buddy has the 31 tooth sprocket on his 1700 (05) , and swears by it. It does bump the RPMs up (obviously) while in 4th at round town cruising speeds , so it certainly wouldn't hurt anything. Will put a larger smile on your face though , that I know 1st hand. BB

Just like Flashback said. It should have come from the factory that way. I have had no issues with mine and really don't notice any difference in the top end she still likes to crusie at 80mph. but the take off thats nice

Blackroadie, do you have a deal on a pulley $$$ wise? I think my heavy butt needs some more low end power.
