Hey Bruzer
Any of the above ways that you mentioned will work. It's mainly a personal preferance. The RSV and RSTD brackets are the same, if they are for the hard bags.
Some of the earlier RSTD's came with two pipes on each side, and their brackets are for the soft bags. These are not the same as the ones that were designed for the hard bags.
Nothing wrong with making your own custom brackets either.

I went with the RSV brackets, so I could have the extra stability when pulling a heavier trailer. The hitches for the Road* are not as stable as the RSV's.
Not sure if this link has already been posted here.

Bruzer, the post right above gives you pretty good guidance. And the pics are tremendous! No matter which way you go there will be some subtle modifications whether its welding, cutting or adding brackets or any and all combinations.

I am in the hunt for some of the Royal Star hardbags too. Once I get my set I will try to connect them up and then see which way to go. Then I can be more direct in my questioning.

Howdy Fella's ( Coashdan, Vegasdave & Ultrastar ) This fella's helped with advice via "Roadstar Clinic !!!!!
Well, I just took this picture 10 min's ago. Spent the day putting on the mounting brackets and Midnight Venture Hard Saddlebags on my Roadstar today. Man, it must have been 35 to 40 degrees outside today. Still have alot to do. Picture shows a pretty dirty bike in dire need of a good washing. Still have to bent the front lower part of the mounting brackets that will attach to the frame on both sides. My bike is black. I really lucked out by purchaseing a set of Black Midnight Venture Saddlebags with "House of Color" Flames on them allready.
Anyway, Merry Christmas to ONE & ALL.
Thanks Fella's

Hey pvrider
Those bags look great!!
But, now you'll have to throw some House of Colors flames on the rest of bike.

Looks like you also have the pix resizing down.

Hey CoachDan,
I really was not looking for flames on any part of my bike. But now that they're on the tail end, the ride don't look all that bad. Looks like a Black Rocket. New Name for my ride, either the "Black Rocket" or "Shooting Star". Damn, I sound like a little kid.
Listen, I got in to, too big a hurry tonight, heck, night pictures don't really come out very good with my little camera. First day, the sun comes out, I'll snap some better pic's and post. You'll get a better idea of what my ride looks like both sides. Still yet, I've yet to put on the Guards and the Trims around the Bags. Next set of pic's won't be for some time, until I can cut, straighten, bent & bolt the Mounting Brackets correctly.
Take Care Fella's

OK, Bruser lets try this, maybe this will help.

You can count on all the 1999-2009 RSVenture, and 1997-2009 RSTour Deluxe brackets working with the hard bags.

Fairly cetain the RSTour Classic brackets will work also, but not 100 percent positive.

Hope this helps.

anyone have RS venture bags with a HD tour pack? Any issues opening up the venture bags? RSV saddlebag brackets are NOT available on ebay right now. Old brackets are. How much should they run? I got my eye on a set of RSV bags, but they'll have to be painted to match my bike.
