Short Shots and AIS installed on 08 2 Years, 6 Months ago
We got the 07 Vance and Hines Short Shots installed on my Dad's 08 RS today. AIS went smooth, there is no vacum line on the throttle body on the 08. (There is one but it doesn't go to the AIS and doesn't come off.) Mocked the pipes up on the bike without the heat shields on and marked where the O2 sensors needed to go. Drilled 3/8" hole in the pipes in the spot we picked. Found some small lug nuts off a 4-wheeler or something that were the correct length and thread. You just barely want the O2 sensors peeking into the pipe side. If you get it too far in it will act as a baffle. I had to extend the wires running to the rear cylinder O2 sensor by about 14" or so. We were able to put the front cylinder O2 sensor in the stock location. Welded the nuts on and installed the pipes. He wanted to run them without baffles and they sound awesome! Not a difficult job, just take your time.
