Toe Shifter - again 2 Years, 3 Months ago
Looking for a toe shifter for a 2007 R*MS. The threads on mine have apparently worn smooth. For now, I've flipped the rear to the front but the spoon shaped piece just isn't working. There seems to be zero aftermarket options which would seem simple enough to fabricate. Anyone who has switched to forward controls and has a shifter laying around, I'm interested.

To any of the machinists out there, are the threads something that can be fixed? Can I take it somewhere? Any other tricks to get it working would be appreciated also.

I would jump on that. Unfortunately it's the prior design. I don't know why they felt the need to change that in 2006. Thanks.

Try checking e-bay to see if you can get the whole floor board and shift assembly from an older R*.

PM sent.

Curt, I was thinking that. Then I could go to the single toe shifter if I wanted.

Thanks to Luke for getting me back in business.

To all you super smart people out there. What's the name of the connection of the shifter to the bike? The same one that holds the two pieces together, the same one that the clutch uses? The closest I can come is some sort of sprocket looking, compression fitted, toothed post thingy. But I know that's not the real name. I'm going to see if someone can re-tool the teeth in the old shifter either for a backup or spare for anyone else who wears theirs out.

Never mind. I just got it. It's a splined coupler.

Glad I could help...

Compression fit tooth-post thingies are essential. LOL

NOTE to the forum::

MITCHELL NJ is very cool, I priced him the shifter that
he needed...added 6 bucks for shipping,
and he rounded up to the next 10 dollar increment!
(to cover any paypal withdrawel fees)
I thought that was VERY COOL- I was empressed!

Another reason Roadstar forum rocks...good people.
