BAK Leak 2 Weeks ago
Hey everybody,

I have a stock carb with Baron's BAK.The sleeve that came with the air kit that mates the air kit to the carb doesn't seal on either side. Is this typical of this product? its ruining my AFR. is there a part or adapter that i can use to get a better or complete seal?

Experience/Advice welcome.

really? it should fit pretty snug. Do you have the clamp on there?

also, i suck with mechanical stuff, but why would extra air that is going in where the air filter is, cause noticeable problems? yes, thats a real question

Get 2 large hose clamps to use. It's supposed to be siliconed on the BAK side and clamped on the carb side but, it doesn't work that way. OR you can get a piece of radiator hose and used that with 2 hose clamps

The glue on the filter side has been know to give out. If you do decide to RV silicone it, give it a full day to cure or it will give out again, been thar, done that. I ended up just using hose clams on both sides.

I have glued mine on 2 occassions and the last time I took a large black cable tie and cinched it down tight on the BAK side. I use the stock clamp on the carb side. Seems to be working pretty well.

I think they were referring to air coming in between the filter and carb which could get crap in the carb plus throw the mixture off.

Mine came loose at the BAK side too I got some silicone and gooped it up real good and haven't had a probem now in many miles. I also got a narrow 1/4" wide worm clamp from my favorate bike shop that does racing bikes and used it on the carb end.

You don't want to dirty air in where the clean air is supposed to be. That would defeat the purpose of the aie filter.
