Best Intake 1 Week, 5 Days ago

Hey everybody
Gathering intel on what is the best intake/airbox out there for proven HP/TRQ gains. I recently put on a PCS monster pro pipe and took it to the dyno for a tune and it turns out Baron's sucks. By that i mean they sold me a system that doesn't seal and from the sound of things thats just how von chauldy rolls. i bet he doesnt use a system that leaks on his record holding drag bikes. I digress. How say you? Thunder? Force Motor? K&N? Others? and to be fair if in fact you stand by your baron's kit i'd like to hear about that too.
Thanks all

I can only tell you what's working for me. I would have a K&N universal if I had started with a stock airbox and stock cover. But what I started with was a stock airbox with a Yamaha accessories V-102 billet cover. I like the billet cover so much that I added a K&N replacement filter and cut away most of the lower half of the stock airbox. I call it my "BigBoy's BAK". I don't know if it flows as well as a BAK or not but I think it's close. And the filter is tucked up inside so rain isn't much of an issue.
And as far as the intake it's the stock one that I ported.

I have Barons tear drop BAK and never had a problem I've met John the "Baron" in several times in person and they DO use all of there products on their race bikes. It's the proving ground for their product development. If it's not working then call them up and they will make it right. They use a K&N filter with a front and back plate and a rubber hose to connect to the carb dunno how you could make a bad one of those. True the silicone they use to hold the rubber hose to the back of the back of the BAK leaves some to be desired but, an extra hose clamp fixes that. Sorry you are not happy with their BAK but, I don't believe that is the way he "rolls"

I have the Kurykyn Hypercharger, because I think it looks cool and it works. I'm not much of gear head so I couldn't tell for sure it's better than anything else.

i can only speak from what I have. The BAK gives the engine all the air it wants. I've been really happy with styling and performance.

From my experience, the Hypercharger is more restrictive than it looks. I switched from the hypercharger to an open element filter, and there was a night and day difference in power.

Jamie: is that the forcewinder? Is the mount tight or does it use a boot?
Yeah its funny, the hypercharger looks like it should be unstoppable. The butterfly assembley alone looks like a top fuel drag car set up similar to what Saleen is doing with his new market challenger. I've heard nothing but disapointment about the hypercharger.
Additionally, I know baron is held in high regard but something that is not considered here is diversity. I for one want a perfect motor. Others are satisfied with cool looks. All are excellent, and I feel people (including some of our moderators) take my topics as a judgment. Nothing can be further from the truth. I have great respect for each and every person here....GREAT respect. I just don't think that products sold to us in exchange for our hard earned bread should be readily accepted without scrutiny just because they're "track tested". I have found on two bikes, two times that baron's air kits don't seal. If these are "track tested" I think they should come to us perfect and I maintain that von chaldy's track set ups aren't leaking so why should mine? BTW: 2 systems is $400+ too many to be sub standard.
I value everyone's opinion and I am listening, please keep it comin'.
