Re:V&H Propipe HS 1 Year, 9 Months ago
I just installed one recently and I love it. I had a dyno with speedster drag pipes@68.15 hp and 99.24 TQ and the another dyno with the VH propipe @ 75.63 hp and 100.14 TQ. that is a pretty nice increase in performance with just changing pipes. They are somewhat quiet at cruising speeds but bark when you crack the trottle. I found them on Ebay for under $400. They list them as not fitting the 1700, But when I called VH they said that one of the heat sheild clamps may hit the cyl fins. I didn't see/have this problem on mine the pipe fit perfectly. I was also curious what the HS stood for, the guy at VH said it simply stood for "Heat Sheild"

I have the V&H Pro-Pipe with heat shield, and what has been called the HD end-cap. I'm not crazy about the sound... it's alright, but the extra power I could feel right in the seat of my pants made me a believer, and I've kept it.

And like DaveJ said, it's plenty quiet enough at cruising speed, but crack the throttle open and it really barks in a commanding fashion!

they make a billet end cap that fits the ProPipe for Harleys. You can adapt it to the regular ProPipe and it looks much nicer. Also you can get the competition baffle at the same time and put it in. I'm pretty sure that baffle only works with the HD billet end.

hpoe that clears it up. Here iss a picture of the end and then a compariosn of the two baffles. Note that I took the competition baffle which is straight through but longer and I cut the end off so its the same length as the original one but straight through. Last picture is a side by side of the two different ends:

My pipe came with the bike, and i was not at all happy with the sound. Then i was told of the HS pro Comp Baffle. This is now the best sounding bike i ave had. I can creep out in the morning with out making the neighbors cranky but when i lay it on, she rumbles a sweet tune. She also seems to have leveld out the torque curve so she pulls like a mule or two. I bought it with the pro comp end cap shown in boat marks pics. Baffle was $99.00 including the end cap.

Well cool. Maybe I'll give it a shot.

How much/what type of modification must be done to get that hd tip to fit?

I'd need to go take a look, but I'm certain it's a mere bolt-on.
