Wow....at this point I'd probably say just send me the Harley faring and it better have every nut and bolt and be drilled or your getting it back and I'll split the shipping. Plus there a huge website that knows about this. Save yourself a hassle and $150. Then take him out of your contact list. JMO

Eddie, my most sincere condolences you dealing with TJD. I had the same poor experience a couple years ago and the guy was a dip-wad. Reading what you went through it was if i wrote the exact same thing 2 years back. Mine fairing came cracked due to piss poor boxing or handling by Fed-Ex hacks. I said screw it and bought a used harley inner and outer and fabbed my own brackets from the harley brackets. Actually saved me time and $$$ using the harley stuff over the TDJ as the TJD was "supposed" to be finished ready for paint fairing. Best of Luck to You.

I am thinking of that as well I may use memphis shades mounts so I can do it as a quick release. I've been looking on ebay all in brackets inner and outer about $300-400.

Eddie, I found all I needed on craigslist. Found a perfect outer for $120, an inner that was sun faded but only needed a scotch-brite scuff and rattle can spray with Krylon satin black, inner cost $50 and the 2 fairing brackets were $20. I used my existing yamaha windshield mounting bracket. Mine is a permanent addition but can be completely removed in about an hour. Believe me, I ain't ever gonna remove it as I can't believe I went this long without a full fairing. I like the comforts of riding a Couch-Glide now.

Will any Harley outer work or do I need to keep an eye out for a certain year range and model?

Thanks!

Also I thought it was the inner part of the Harley fairing that was physically mounted to our bike. The outer part just attached to the inner and thats what held that piece on.

Dysan, any 1998 and up harley inner amd outer will work. Yes, you are correct, the inner and the harley inner mounts are attached to the yamaha factory windshield mounts. Held in place by the 2 bolts on each side that hold the yammy window. The outer hangs on to the inner with 2 large screws and the 3 that hold the window at the top, I added 2 smaller ones down low behind the headlamp to a bracket I fabbed up. Mine looks like a factory set up paint and all. Stereo and to cover the 2 large gauge holes (speedo and tach) I mounted a nice leather tool bag that is as wide as the gauges and is as tall and about 2 inches deep as ya can never have enough storage. I use it for doo rag, sunglasse, foam ear plugs and tire gauge. On the 2 smaller lower gauges next to the radio I installed a Volt meter and Oil Temp gauge. The 2 small openings on either side of the tool bag I installed small dome tweeters. I use 6.5" main speakers instead of the 5.25" ones normally used. Radio has a USB port and have 8GB of endless music.

Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with them .

I had very good experiences with them. Maybe they are a little busy(I am not defending them).

I bought my stretched bags there with latches and hinges and I asked if they cold put the latches and hinges on for me. They did that fot free as a service and I received my stuff really fast. I discoverd that I missed the keys for the bags and they sent them to me the same day, so everything cool.

Sometimes you van be lucky or unlucky I guess.

Strange thing is that I had a bad experience with Reckless. I wanted to buy a fairing from them on ebay and it was priced really cheap. Then I wanted a stereo with it and because of the cheap ebay price of the fairing they tried to charge me double for the stereo. I cancelled the whole order

For those who may be wondering... The fairing has been returned and the owner is not answering my questions as to when and how much my refund will be.... next step is the credit card company if he hasn't replied by end of day today
