Floorboard Extensions 1 Year, 3 Months ago
I'm looking to extend my driver boards out away from the bike. All of the extensions I've come across are for moving them forward. Anyone familiar with extension mod to set them out wider?

Thanks,
Rob

you might could get a really thick piece of metal or several thinner ones, make sure all the holes are in the right place and lined up. Buy you a longer bolt and use those piece(s) of metal to serve as spacers. Not sure how wide you are wanting to go though.

Rob... I did this to mine and used a couple pieces of smaller square tubing. It was either 1" or 1 1/4" square tubing, I don't remember which. I just cut them as long as the original mount. Painted them, drilled the holes to match the holes in the floorboards & frame (they go inbetween the frame & boards)& used grade 8 bolts & locktite to button it all back up.

Works great & gives you a little more room. I also cut down my brake pedal for more foot room. If you want pic's let me know & I can take some & see if I can figure out how to post them.

Thanks Chris. No need for pics after taking a look at the mount I see what you did. That's a good idea and simple. I mounted a Hypercharger and wanted to push the exhaust side mount out around 2". I think with your mod and a larger piece of tubing should be perfect.

Rob, Thats exactly what I was thinking when I made my spacers. My bike has the Kuryakyn twin Velocity breather on it & is always against my leg since it sticks out farther. My spacers helped a bunch, but I was thinking of going bigger like you are. Let me know how they turn out if you get a chance!

Chris- worked perfect.. I used 1.5" square tubing, cut it to 3" length, drilled the holes, bought a pair of 10mmx1.25x60 bolts and some very thick washers and tightened it all back down. I gained with the washers nearly 1.75" which was perfect to add some clearance around the Hypercharger.. I took some pics and will post this mod shortly.. Cost me $20... For folks with Hyperchargers or anyone else looking to widen one or both floorboards this was piece of cake...

Thanks for the update Rob. Gonna do some measuring & I think I might go ahead & go with the bigger square tubing like you did. Big Purple's gonna feel like a different bike after all the mods/work I've done to 'er this winter!
