CruiserBob: Can I also use these same steps to install progressive springs? I was going to change fork oil but also change the springs to lower the front a bit. Thanks.

As I have said before, the spring and oil change can be done without removing the forks, it's simple easy and fast.

Yes these steps can be used to replace the springs. When you assemble the forks follow the spring manufacturer's instructions which would be probably spring, washer spacer.
I agree you can change the springs without taking the forks off, but changing the oil requires the fork removal. Some have taken the bolt out of the bottom of the fork leg that holds the acutator in place and drained the oil that way. I get nervous that replacing the bolt can be problematic, and not all the oil can be drained this way, but have never tried it because to me it is not a big deal to take the forks off.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Great thank you! I will do it that way only because I want to ensure that I get all the gunk out of the forks while I have them off.
