uummm... what gives?? 1 Year, 2 Months ago
Put my new brake line on today and went to bleed them (man those speed bleeders are nice) anyway front went real good but the back line i have a issue with. The banjo for the caliper is leaking between the copper washers and im affraid i will snap the bolt if i go any tighter any ideas what torque specs are on a 10mm banjo? i changed the washers 2 time with the same results also i seam to have a very spongey pedel but its probly from the leaking banjo. Any ideas clinic members

I hate when that happens. It sounds like you may have a crack in the master cylinder in the banjo threads. Bad banjo bolt? Maybe the head is not square and you get a gap. Just some thoughts to check out.

The book says to torque the banjo bolts to 22ft pounds. Is the leak at the master cylinder or the caliper

Can you tell what washer is leaking? (caliper side/bolt head side) If you can remove and check to see if the flat on the fitting has any defects in it. I have seen bad fitting ends on aftermarket brake lines (for autos). Sometimes I could give them a extra tug with the wrench and a couple I had to take back to the store for replacement. The copper washer will take up a little imperfection but not always 100%

Aftermarket caliper, speigler line, new banjo bolt with washer on each side. The banjo and bolt head washer i know is leaking but i think the caliper and banjo side is leaking too. I have the old banjo from my front caliper i will see if it will thread in when i get home from work. because the copper washers are soft and they soak Up some of the suface imperfections could i double them Up to try and soak Up more if its a bad banjo or gawd forgive the caliper hole aint square?

Buy new cooper washers at an autoparts store don't reuse the ones you have.
