Front Pulley Question - XV1600 vs XV1700 11 Months, 4 Weeks ago
Anybody know if an XV1600 front pulley will fit an XV1700? I know, sounds like a dumb question. But, here's the deal...

I run that spoked pulley in the rear. It's for a wider belt than what is stock on the XV1700. I've lived with it for a while and decided to go to a wider belt since mine broke on a ride last week. The new XV1600 belt obviously fits fine on the spoked pulley. But, it doesn't mesh right with the front pulley and spins under acceleration.

So, the options are.
1. Go back to a narrow belt and live with the noticeable space on the rear pulley.
2. Test an XV1600 front pulley and see if it fits.

I've reached out to Danny already(since he's the go-to guy for spare parts). But, in the event that he doesn't have one, would anybody else have an old-model front pulley that I can test with?

Thanks, guys.

Only thing I could think of is there may be a clearance problem on the rear fender or something else. I have a feeling that is why they switched to a narrower belt. Not sure what they changed to drive that change but I would bee looking close at those things.

Looks like the Baron front pulleys fit both 1600 and 1700 R*. Hope this helps.

I've got a 1600 pulley on the front of my 1700. The 1600 pulley is a 33 tooth, so you'll be geared a little higher.

I'm already out $300.00 for the belt and clutch cable. So, if I can avoid a $175.00 Baron pulley (when I don't know for sure it's the fix)...

Curt:
I checked clearance on it pretty good. It's a straight shot and nothing rubs, so.

I'm feeling better about this already...

I just don't want to have to tear it down to the swingarm again to swap the belts...

Now, to find somebody that's willing to part with an old pulley...

Thanks, buddy.

I didn't mean you would have to buy a Barons pulley, just that the 1600 and 1700 seem to be interchangeable. If you can get a cheaper one, it should still work.

I learned just today that doesn't seem to be the case...

I'm betting the 1700 belt works for both configurations...

Didn't think about that. I had been looking at a couple of things at Phat Performance and saw that the pulleys were the same for both. Sorry about that and I hope you can get it worked out. Too nice of a bike to be sitting still.
