drivers back rest again 11 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I took a risk and purchased this drivers backrest: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Yamaha-Road-Star-Driver-Curved-Backrest-/160814102983?_trksid=p4340.m185&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC.NPJS%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUA%26otn%3D5%26pmod%3D160807363726%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D8997701609247060683

The shipping was fast, and the installation was easy. But I realized I could not put my passenger seat on since the backrest was in the way of sliding the seat on from the front.

It took a while, but I figured out that I could bend the backrest forward enough to slide the passenger seat on, bolt it down, then bend the backrest back into place. No damage on the backrest from bending.

I am very pleased with the position, fit, and price. So, if anyone is in the market for an inexpensive drivers backrest, I recommend these folks.

That is really good to hear Sigmund45!!!

I bought one of those too but haven't been able to put it on my Roadie yet(it's a Army thing!) ! My Son offered to put it on but I am pretty selfish when it comes to adding/working/MOD's on my Bike!

I have one of a similar design, but thicker steel, so I couldn't bend it. I ending up getting a ratcheting box wrench and can fit it in there with the passenger's seat on. It's a bit of a pain, but it works. Just something to consider.

I ordered, received and mounted mine already. I run solo so I don't have the passenger seat mount issue - but putting leverage on it forward is the right thing to do which will allow you to slip the passenger seat on. (I think) I like this backrest - it MAKES me sit upright and straight which is what I need for my bad back. I need to do some EC work on it to move it back an inch or more. It seems to crowd me forward. But still, good product for minimal dollars - came very quick from Va.
