Cobra backrest hole spacing? 1 Year ago
I bought my 01 used through a dealer with a passenger backrest installed by the previous owner (unknown). The dealer thought the backrest is a Cobra brand but was not sure. I do not like the backrest pad that is on it, but the bar itself looks good. I want to replace the current pad with a Mustang pad to match the drivers backrest, and Mustang does make one that is suppose to fit a cobra bar. Problem is, I am not sure enough that mine is actually a Cobra bar to spend the cash on a Mustang pad that "should " fit it. Does anyone out there have a Cobra passenger backrest that they could get a quick measurment on the pad bolt/screw spacing fo me? Distance roughly center to center on the bottom two screws and then the distance that the top one is above those two would be great!

If anyone has a good used oval passenger backrest pad for sale, I would definitly be interested.

Thanks, Mike

Mine measures 3 3/4" center to center on bottom holes with the top hole 3" above that. I have the Cobra with square tubing, the round tubing could be different. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick answer blue star! That is about what mine are spaced as well. I should have mentioned mine was the square bar also.

Anyone have one laying around they want to sell, or prefer the small one like I have in my sig pic? I would be more than willing to trade and I'd add some cash to the deal for an oval Mustang pad.

Thanks again, Mike

Could one of you guys measure the distance between the uprights at the top bolt hole where the sissy bar bolts onto the mounting brackets please? Ive been trying to find a luggage rack for mine but not knowing the brand it gets a little trying.

It's about 9 1/2" on mine.

Mine is 8-5/8" between the bars, 9-3/8" on the outside of the bars, and 9 3/4" on the outsides of the brackets. I had to move my brackets to the outside to accomidate the way the hardbag lowering brackets are set up. The luggage rack I have does not mount to the passenger backrest anywhere. It has one bolt hole that uses the seat mount bolt in the fender and then two mount points on the license plate bracket. It works out real well for what I use it for. My Roadstar is a 1600, not sure if this rack would work on a 1700. Here is a link to one on eBay that shows several different angle views.
