Wow okay after a major search of the area found two tubes of hylomar I'm convinced that they are the last tubes in the county and they are now mine also finding a #50 pump nozzle is proving challenging. I did however discover that the stock choke cable will in fact work on the hsr 42. so that made me a bit happier, so now tps is mounted well discovered a few new tricks there, choke cable done. Now waiting on pump nozzle while that is on its way will be surfacing and installing ported manifold.

yes, the stock choke cable will work, might have to do the mod on it too. the mod is in the tech article section.
Use the spring and the plunger from the 42 carb, but use the nut from the stock carb to secure the cable on the carb.

The HD will work just fine you just don't have the 2.5 increments to work with. The jets are are the same size the head are hex and smaller so they take up less space in the bottom bowl nut = more gas available. Like I said I went from a 165 to a 170 and the bike runs great with both you not going to be WOT all the time any way. These are race carbs so you may end up changing to a 97 needle in the end. That is why there are so many needle and ways to adjust them for racing.

Curt, I believe those HD jets are 2 sizes smaller than the same number Mikuni jet.
Your HD 170 = Mikuni 160. I ended up with both the HD and the Mikuni Yost
tube(Due to an Order Processing error).

Perhaps that's why you were running so lean?

sorry, but Yost says if you use a 170, then use the 170 that comes with the kit. The threads are different, and the same threads that the HD CV carb which is a Khenin
