Can it be left on the bike or should i take it all the way off (out of the mount )

Leave it on the bike... you can't get a better holder for it to be steady enough... I recommend ya cover the bike with towels or a blanket or something

Or get someone to hold your shop vac hose and collect that stuff

Lexan, polycarbonate, plexiglass, whatever you want to call it - cuts easy, just make sure you use the fine blade like Grinder sayeth or you might find yourself in a real pissy mood

I just did this the other day and I took the windshield off and laid it on some towels and taped it off wIth blue painters tape. Marked my line and cut it a hair wide with a jigsaw with a scroll blade that has straight teeth. Took my random orbit sander and started out with 80 and sanded it down to line and then hit it with some 200 to roll the edge like the factory is. Last step is to take a propane torch and burnish the edge. Just lick the edge with the flame and keep it moving. You will see it right away when It is perfect. Practice on your cut off of you want. I learned about burnishing plexiglass with a torch years ago in college making bongs. Lol. Guess those years were not a total waste afterall.

I just replaced my stock OEM Silverado windshield with the optional wide version. If anyone wants the old one to practice cutting on or to try mods etc let me know.

It is the standard medium height, shield only, no chrome pieces, brackets etc. The previous owner used something to clean it that created a haze with fine scratches,so it is only good for experimenting with before changing what you already have.

Yours for the price of shipping

I will keep it for another week then I will take the shipping box and shield to our local recycling drop off place.

Oh another project I'm going to have to try...(now it's going to have to wait til we get back from Texas next week).

My windshield is HUGE, and it sucks But I'd like to have the option of riding with a windshield instead of it sitting in the back shop collecting dust and spiders.

Y'all are just a wealth of knowledge this morning ;P

Here is the link that I found when I cut mine down. It says to wipe M.E.K. on the edge to make it clear.
http://tidyville.roadstarclinic.com/windshield.html I still have to sand mine and buy the M.E.K. I only use my for long highway trip and colder weather.
