Those organ pipes look like something you'd see in a James Bond movie. Of course, his would fire bullets or missiles. Very cool looking.

I know the Valkyrie guys go to a truck stop to get the 3 1/2" stainless sleeve. I'm thinking use the V&H head pipes I have, and making a 2 into 1 adapter to get into the front of the 3 1/2" housing that will hold the glass pack. Would be fun to try. Guess IF (that's a big if) I get the hot job at the new wing plant, I'll actually have the time to do stuff like that! No room for it working the last job. 12 years of long hours, and no gratitude!
We'll see. It's in my "what if" pile!

Finally got the broken bolt out of the bottom pipe and pulled the baffles. Like the V&H guy stated mine were 20" long with about 2" solid bands at either end. I decided to try simply cutting 8" off the inside and after finding stainless bolts to replace the trashed originals reassembled everything. Nice deeper tone, even the wife doesn't think they're any louder, and definitely pulls smoothly through the entire rpm range. No more burbling on deceleration is another benefit. I'm tempted to pull them and try trimming another 2" but concerned it might end up too short and ruin what I've accomplished. So, we'll just enjoy the deeper tone and find something else to play with until the next long ride.

Where can I find that fiberglass material? Wanted to experiment with my Long Shots but wasn't sure where I should get the glass. Also, how difficult is it to get the existing baffles out?
Thanks in advance (newbie)

The baffels are pretty easy to take out. The final heat shields need to be loosenedd and moved back to get to the locking screw (tire side of the pipe). I used a wire coat hanger to pull my out the first time. They are dirty so have a towel ready to clean those paws.
The baffeling material you can get from most of the MC super stores like J&P Cycles, Crusier Customizing, etc.
I gotta say if you have the standard baffels like I have you may not have a lot of room for the baffeling material.

My are apparently similar to these in my longshots. http://mclassic.bismanonline.com/vance_and_hines_long_shot_head_pipes_and_baffles/task/ViewAdPhotos/?photoId=1015229
Straight through and just raised "loops. To get rid of the blubbering on decell, I need to replace them or would cutting sone out of the middle help these?

Took a leap of faith - no comments needed - and cut an additional 2" off the baffles today. I really need to figure out how to upload an audio track!
Anyway, I love the sound! Much deeper and fuller - amazing what shortening the baffles to 10" does!
I kept the long extra pieces in case I get tired (read "my wife gets tired" of the sound, as I can always tack weld them back on.
The idle now sounds like a 98" motor and full throttle is awesome!
Normal riding - fill in the blank - is just fine as long as I keep my hand out of it.
Our son's neighbor has a V star with stock pipes and told me that although he liked the sound of my bike before, he loves it now.
