Any chance I could use stock cables with these bars. They are listed as 13" but they are 39" wide. I do realize I will need to change the brake line.

I don't think the stock cables will be long enough. Sorry.

Try TimB at metric magic... his prices are a lot cheaper and if im not mistaken, he can save you a few bucks on the apes too!

Are changing the cables a difficult job? Is 39" wide for ape bars? I really like that pointed look but it seems as though it's making it a little tougher to get something. Also I saw that most HD bars are drilled for internal wiring does the end of the grips line up were there supposed to be?

Tim can get everything you need for them, just tell him what size bars your doing. Cables will be easy, bleeding the brakes takes time but no biggie. Grips should line up fine, there may be a little hanging off, but as long as 75% are on the bars your good to go, also be a good time to get new grips too

When I spoke with Tim about getting the new cables we were just talking about the project and he asked me if I was going to run the wires in front or behind the tree? I didn't hane an answer. He also mentioned drilling out the top of the tree with two small holes to sneak the wires through?

If it was me, I would run them internally... also, I drilled the top of my top triple clamp and love it... if us look under the top clamp, you will see a support that's modeled in... drill a hole on both sides and you can drop your wires directly from the bars into those holes... nice and clean! And, save yourself a few bucks and only get the pull cable and not the push... I been running without the push cable for years

Also a little trick you can do to keep the bars from moving on you, if that is a problem, is to get the bars in the spot you want them in, make a mark that you can use with the top clamp off to line the up again. Have a helper hold the bars in position for you, use a set punch to make a couple dimples in the bars, under where the top clamp was. Now drill small hole down through each dimple and into the lower clamp. Now you can drive roll pins through the bar and into the lower clamp. Replace the top clamp, and I promise you those bars will stay put.

By the way I like those bars too, I have seem the same style with bends at the bottom for fairing bikes.I want these.

I think they will look bad ass on a blacked out bike.

Harley bars have different center spacing, they wont work on a RoadStar. you either need Yamaha specific bars or 1.25" solid through the clamping area with matching risers.
