ok, so had a set made up, thanks Ultrastar. Problem is, the pic said 3/8 holes and 10mm bolts. Well, they dont fit, so i'll have to redrill anyway , there goes the cool hammered paint job i put on em. Anyway, another issue is the stock rear bolt on the shift side bracket stripped. I have the right size allen just ad a soft female head i guess. With my limited tools and know-how, anybody have an idea on how to remove bolt?
There's been lots of others that have had a hard time with those bolts. I got rid of the stock one's a went with a hex head bolt made life a lot easier for me anytime I want work on that area of the bike

I have an impact driver. I t is useless because the hex bit spins freely in the head. A mechanic friend told me I could force a larger size torx bit in there and chew it up. He said it has worked, but the bit and bolt will be throw-aways after that. ut no biggie since I will be tossing all 4 bolts anyways. Anyone ever try this method?

I have done the larger size socket/bit thing many times with all different types of fasteners. I usually take a little hand held torch and try to heat the head of the bolt first and then hammer the bit/socket onto the bolt. Then make sure to apply firm steady pressure to get it out.

Or you could go to sears, take one of the bolts with you and get a bolt extractor that fits snug over the head of the allen bolt. This will dig into the bolt and give you a fighting chance of getting it out. Can even try the heating method before putting the extractor onto the bolt. Heat is always a great thing when it comes to bolts. A little goes a long way...,.

Just put a set of Lightning floorboard extensions on my bike!!!!! Man o Man what a difference. Were very easy to install. Just had to take the factory clamps for the rear brake line loose and use zip ties. Adjust the shift linkage and voila! Guy that I got the bike from had the set in the box of factory parts he gave me and I don't know why he did't put them on..... If I didn't already have them I was going to make a set. A much more comfortable ride!

That's it a torx that's what I could not remember.Knock that in there with a 6" 3/8 extension by you doing that it should help knock it loose
