Re:ED Seat Review 9 Months, 1 Week ago
I originally bought the passenger seat for my wife, with the intent of keeping the stock driver's seat. The wife was so impressed with the ED passenger seat, that she "convinced" me to buy a seat for me (didn't take much).

I'm 5'-9", 185 lbs, 30" inseam - Mike recommended the Standard ED seat for me. To be honest, when I first put it on and went for a ride, I wasn't immediately convinced it was an improvement. Sitting lower meant that I was using different leg muscles to hold the bike up at a stop - more noticeable riding 2-up. In less than a week though, I found myself very happy with the seat, and the ED seats seem to work well with the Grasshopper backrest I already had with the stock seats.

I would definitely recommend ED to other R* owners. In fact, I have a co-worker who would be interested in the ED passenger seat, except he rides a Suzuki Boulevard - too bad for him - I guess he needs to upgrade to an R*!

DOHH! "I originally bought the passenger seat for my wife, with the intent of keeping the stock driver's seat. The wife was so impressed with the ED passenger seat, that she "convinced" me to buy a seat for me (didn't take much). "

Why didn't I think of that.

My seat feels great, the more miles the better. The other day when it was like 97 and humid (pants stcking to you) hot, i put 285 miles on her and my butt felt fine (before i would have been sliding and twisting all over the stock seat trying to relieve the pain). Like a few of you said it is totally differant feel around the upper thigh area than stock but before long you just notice the comfort. As for the backrest bracket i'm going to have mine powered coated a black to blend in with the seats. kroyleahcim

I heard about the ED seats here on the clinc last year so I got in touch with George, I live about an hours ride from George's shop. We made arrangements to meet up at his shop . I was able to try both the low forward and the Standard seats on my bike before deciding which one would work best. George was great. He shipped my old seats home for me so I could ride the new one home.

I am 5-10 about 220 and the Standard seat fit me the best. I purchased the standard and passenger seats with the drivers backrest all with studs. My wife loves the seat, she was the main reason I was looking for a new seat. She found the old one unberable after about an hour. Happy wife happy life

As many have already mentioned here you do feel like you are sitting in the bike not on it. I now have over 6000k ( almost 4000 miles ) on them and they are great.

Love,Love,Love our ED Seats. I have a gel pad from my old passenger seat. Asked my Wife if She wanted it on for added comfort. She said no. Didn't need it. She has some lower back issues. The ED Seat fits Her perfectly. Me tooooo.

Glad to here your experience. You are proof that not everyone is the same when it comes to what is the best size seat for them. I would have put you in a big touring seat based on your size, but you said it yourself, that the standard size seat fits you best.

Also For those following this post and considering getting a seat from us, remember we at E.D. Seats can only make recommendations based on what has worked for the majority of people in a certain height, weight, and inseam class. But this is not set in stone, and the above and other examples I am aware of proves this.

This is why we offer a 15 day trial, so you can try a seat out and make sure you are comfy. If you are not, simply send it back and request a different size. You may be surprised at what a big difference this can make.

Glad to here it John, because we already know if we had to exchange it, you were going to get me tickets to fly there and put the new one on personally for you
