HK 3" pipes 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Ok Guys
New owner so 1st question. 2005 Roadie with HK 3" pipes that have a rattle in heat shields. Not Bad but can hear it. Today I tightened the 4 back Bolts that attach to mounting structure. better but if you bump with hand you can hear them resonate with a buzz. Thinking maybe some rubber washers of some sort like maybe some faucet gaskets between the bolts and the mounts but may get to hot and burn. Anyhow what do you guys think would be a viable solution to my not so important deli ma.

I bet the welds are broke My friend has the 3" turnouts and the same rattle we pulled the pipes and found 3 cracked or broken welds for the heat shield Lucky for me I'm a welder and he only had to buy the beer.

I'd go for the baffle screws. Mine were loose but you only noticed it when it heated up at first. Try ti slide the screws around insode the hole. If it moves then push it as far forward as you can. Add a small washer if needed (Mine did) and tighten it back down. HK's seem to be known for the baffles coming loose. One of the guys here at the clinic mentioned it to me, and was right . So I'm passing on the thought. Rattles can be so annoying!

Well Cman was correct. Give that man a cigar. Top baffle was loose. Some Liquid wrench and standard allen wrenchs and all is well.
Thanks CMAN
