V&H Shortshots 6 Months, 3 Weeks ago
|

I'm thinking about getting some v&h shortshot staggers. Does anyone on here run those pipes? Any words of advise before I get them.

I've been running them for a couple of years now.
I love them. but your neighbors may not.
Real good for setting off car alarms

MikeyD,
I have been running them for about 2 months. Really like the sound, nice and low. I left the baffles in mine that came with it. Can get loud, but not bad normally.

I've had mine for almost a year and love them. My neighbors may not agree, but I think they sound as good as any 2 into 1 system out there. I left my baffles in as well.

I really like mine. Sound good with baffles in. Pretty loud with baffles out. I have had mine for about a year and a half, and they look brand new.

Thanks guys, I think I'm going to order them next week. Did any of you guys have any problems getting the jetting right with them?

I run them and they are really loud. I've seen in some catalogs that you can change baffels to straight through or spiral for less noise...I believe I have the spiral and they are still very loud. I like them because all the cars know I'm there...on long rides it would be nice not to have to wear ear plugs. And yes they do set off car alarms. My RS came with them and the previous owner rejetted the carb...it runs a little rich but runs very strong. Doesn't get very good milage, probably 33 on freeway if you keep it below 70...worse if going faster or at higher elevations and hills. I am a bit rich...was just at the dealership due to the trans recall and my pistons have a bit of black carbon on top...mechanic says he will adjust the carb to lean it out. I get it back today and report back on the adjustment he made.

I REPLACED CLASSIC II FOR THE SHORTSHOTS AND ALSO LIKE THEM VERY MUCH I USE A BARON'S BAK AND OTHER PERFORMANCE ADD ON'S AND THE JETTING IS AS USUAL FOR MY 1600. 167.5 MAIN MIKUNI, 35 PILOT SPEEDSTAR NEEDLE ON 3 WITH TWO WASHERS PMS AROUND 2.5. JUST USE THE JETTING METHODS AS DESCRIBED IN THE FORUM HISTORY. I THINK YOU WILL LIKE THEM. RIDE SAFE!!

When I put them on I was still running the stock air box.
No I didn't have to rejet then. I still have the baffles in by the way.
Runs great, at 12,000+ miles I'm getting between 40 to 45mpg.
It's an 05 Silverado.

The pipes sound great and look great, I had them on my bike last year, but replaced them this year with Hard Krome Side burners(2 into 1), I like the deeper sound I get from the sideburners. The main reason I switched them out was the amount of carbon that I would get on the swingarm. I put the chrome swingarm covers on and after EVERY ride I had to get out the chrome cleaner and clean off the black carbon, if I left it the stock black it would not have mattered though. I also noticed the bottom of my saddle bags had a lot of the same black mess on them. I try to keep my bike spotless, I polish the chrome all the time, and the black on that part of the bike was driving me nuts. My wife thinks I am nuts, I just love the way the bike looks when it is all polished and looks like new. I enjoy working on it, it is my therapy away from evrything.
