Passing lights 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Hey all. I have an '05 Roadstar Silverado, with the passing lights that came with it. One of the screws that goes into the bottom of my right passing light worked its way out. I went to the local Yamaha dealer to buy another one, and they told me that they don't sell individual parts for accessories, they just sell them as whole assemblies. Obviously I'm not going to buy the entire passing light set, so I'm hoping somebody can point me in the right direction. I've had difficulty finding the exact size at Home Depot, and a couple strips of trusty scotch tape are holding the light together at the moment!! Thanks

while I don't know the exact size, I've had LOTs more luck at Ace Hardware stores for metric bolts & the like. you can also buy almost all of your bolts in chrome there too.

You can also try Crow Burlingame stores as well, if there is one in your area. Also check NAPA. I find that the smaller "Home Town" parts and hardware stores are the places to check for this type of stuff.

Good luck!

The folks at whatever dealership you spoke to about the screw don't seem to want your business. If they implied that Yamaha dealerships don't do that they told you a big ol fib about not selling individual parts. Perhaps as a rule that particular dealership doesn't sell parts, but trust me there are some that do.

Dealers have sold me original parts (bolts and nuts) on several occasions. They aren't cheap, but they're cheaper than buying a whole assembly. I'm sure my dealer would be happy to ship 'em to you if you want.

Send me a PM/email if you want the contact info.

I have also gone online to www.boltdepot.com, they have a great selection and I went through and picked several different sizes of what I thought I would need and ordered a bunch and now have them when I need them.

Thanks for your help guys. I'll check out all those locations. I'm riding up the California coast this week and that scotch tape on my light is just too embarassing!!

Houston is right on, I've been able to get a lot of my 'replacement' metric bolts and screws at Ace.

Mark7 is right too, your local stealership doesn't seem to want to bother with something as small as a screw. I lost a screw to my headlight and wanted it to match the other one, not just the plain metal one I picked up at Ace. The local Yamaha dealer folks were willing to track one down, no problem. It's all about service, some give it , some don't .

You can actually order the individual parts online from most of the dealers. Just find it online on the OEM parts section of their website. At least you can from my guys at Bobby J's Yamaha.
