remove heel shift lever 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago
It looks like the heel shift lever can be removed from my 08 R* has anyone done this. I dont use it and it looks like it would give my size 15 a little more room on the foot boards.

thanks

I removed mine. Replaced with a Yamaha single arm shifter. Very easy to do.

You can also cut the rear off the stock one piece unit.

I believe that the 08s have a separate heel shifter unlike the solid one in years past. Looks like they are listening.

I just cut the back part off of my stock piece and ground it smooth right after I got the bike.

I've seen billet aluminum toe only shifters available somewhere.

The '07s are two-piece. Been thinking of doing the same thing.

Do the 08's still have the paddle for the rear? Mine doesn't really go past the edge of the board so it isn't in the way.

The Stradoliner shifter fits the R* and it does not have the heel shift on it

Yeah, the 08 still has the paddle in the rear. Mine doesn't quite look like yours, I think the paddle might be a bit bigger. I've been thinking about yanking mine off, too, seeing as I never use it. Heh, as for Yamaha listening, we'll see when a 6 speed tranny comes out, and maybe an exhaust that doesn't make such a nice engine sound so weak from the factory
