Ride Report - Ride for Vance 2 Years, 5 Months ago
Putting this into a new post to aggregate everything.
We will most likely put an article together for our news section from all of this material.
The weather gods smiled on us and we had perfect riding temps. Temps were in the high 60s to low 70s all day. We started from NoPorks Facility in Norco. There were 6 Clinic members (Gram -Steve, boatmark - Mark, road*dave -Dave, mountaincruiser - Adam, iastar - Russell, and Brian - NoPork), Brian's friend Doug, Katie West (local artist and Author who rides a R*) and 4 members of Geezer MC (a local MC).
Brian and Doug rode in the truck and led the ride. The rest of us followed. It took us 1 1/2 hours to get to the McDonalds in Simi Valley where Star chapter 237 was going to meet us. My brother John, twowheeltherapy - Jeff, and four members of Star Chapter 237 joined us there.
From there, we all proceeded over to Vance and Shirley's which was a very short ride. Brian and Doug led the way again.
Mark (Boatmark) got some video. And we got some good pics too. Mark is going to put the video on YouTube so we can post it here.
Things could not have gone better. Vance was able to come out to receive the bike. He said he had never seen it cleaner, and was a little overwhelmed with all that had been done. He is a great guy, and it was a real pleasure to meet him. His wife Shirley is a doll, and was very excited to get the bike back.
Brian (NoPork) had a friend who made a special graphic for Vance. Its a cutout pic of his bike in front of the wall in DC. He had it framed for Vance and gave it to him while we were there.
One of the riders (Katie West) asked everyone to join in a prayer for and with Vance and Shirley. We all joined in a circle around Vance and Shirley and Katie offered a very touching prayer.
Then we all thundered out. We probably spent 15 to twenty minutes there.
It was all worth it when Vance got on the Bike for some pics. He clearly was right at home there and glad to be back in the saddle, even if just for a few minutes.
Huge HUGE thanks to everyone who helped work on the bike, and those who joined us to deliver it. WE had about 14 to 15 bikes there. A few members of Geezer MC joined us, as did a few Members from Star Chapter 237 from Simi Valley.
And to the guys at NoPork. There just aren't enough words to express thanks. You guys are awesome. Thanks for everything you did. There is just no way to list it all.
