Not tryin' to be a smart alec, but why would anyone change a filter and not the oil... or the oil and not the filter???

Come on, guys, don't nickel and dime on the most important maintenance items. It's cheap, cheap insurance!

As you see now I meant that I use synthetic 20/50. 5000 miles on oil change...but at 2500 I change the filter. Yes, better insurance yet.

does jacking up the front of the bike lessen the oil spill when swapping out filters?

I change my oil and filter about 4 times a year every 3000 to 4000 miles. I have had 2 changes so far this year and most likely I will change again after my vacation next month. I always change it myself on my sport bike but so far I've taken my R* to the dealer to have it changed. I have been looking for a good lift so I can change it myself and save $$. I know I don't need a lift to change it I just hate rolling around on the garage floor too much, its getting harder to get up.

A forklift makes the oil change a breeze.
