Hey Curt
Battling simular issues. With your prior of kidney cancer I'm sure that they(docs) are being PRO-active and making sure that it hasn't spread. Sounds like your Doc is taking the active role in your health. Your part is keeping positive and being as informed as possible. If it is P.C. you still have many options to consider as far as surgery. Don't let the VA pawn the easiest and cheapest surgery off on you. You can force then to outsource or fee service you for procedures that they do not preform. In a lot of places VA HEALTH care is top notch, BUT you have to take the lead don't be led. WEB MD has a lot of good info for you once the results come back but as said earlier do not delay.
So far my elivated PSAs have been an infection followed up with BPH. Neither is fun but better than cancer, my thoughts are with you my friend keep positive and hope for good results. The Dearman

Hey Curt, I wish you the best in your test. If your kids can't make it for some reason, let me know. I am not that far away and I will come get you there and back.

Curt, I have had it done, wasnt too bad, felt some discomfort, tightness during the procedure, but nothing I couldnt deal with. My PSA had jumped to over 4 in a 6 month period, it came back negative and PSA has went back down. Hopefully you will have the same results. Hang in my friend.

had to edit this add, if they send you into the bathroom with a jar and no magazine... its urine they want. Will save you some embarassment.

Check out this WebMD article for what to expect. Several options for the docs to choose from in how to get the sample. Depending on which one they use riding home may very well be an option.

step by step prostate biopsy

And like BB said, good that you're taking care of this pronto.

My father in law was a quirky man and when he was diagnosed with prostate cancer he (in my opinion) wasted time with holistic cures, Chinese herbs, magnetic therapy and the like. Finally when things weren't getting any better he went to a traditional physician and by then it was too late to do anything but prolong the inevitable.

IF he'd taken action quickly he'd still be here today to play with his soon to be 3 year old grandson. As it is, he's been dead a year and a half.

As for me, there's not much a doctor can do to me that is more uncomfortable than being dead. The girls have everyone trying to cure the cancer that starts in their boobs, but not much of a big deal made of the cancer that kills us guys. Guess that means, like most other things with us, we better take care of it ourselves.

Good thoughts to you on your test and the aftermath....

M7

Hey Curt; Hank in there buddy. It's better to be pro-active on these issues. It's more important to take care of ourselves than it is our rides! You are in our prayers for sure.
