I think I know what you mean hammer. I had been riding a sportbike for 10 years before getting the R* (better 2up for the wife and myself) I was a little disappointed in the power but then again I was getting off a bike that was half the weight and had 50% more HP. After getting a few thousand miles on the R*, and stopped scraping the floorboards on every corner, I think it has plenty of power, and when you compare apples to apples it outshines most others in its class. When I feel the need to drag my knees I hop back on the sportbike to get my fix.

Hammer, It all depends on how much you want to spend.
For as heavy as a Roadie is they do well. I did the full
big bore service from Orient Express. Total price was
more than it should have because I had them do the labor
instead of doing it myself but they also did some work
to the tranny. I dynoed at 104 hp and 130 ft/lbs.
That is with a thunder tornado air kit, 45mm carb, ported manifold and V&H longshots
with no baffles and no torque cones. It is punched out to 108
and is still very streetable. When you get on it,
it will slide you completely off the back end if you are
not holding on well. I have done burn outs and snapped
a few belts.

So you meant to buy a V-Max to have the Cruiser which launches like a street bike.

The R* has no problem pulling through the gears but you won't see 3sec 0-60.

I knew this would bring the comments. I appreciate every one of them. The reason i bought this bike WAS to slow myself down a tad. I own a 2000 Valkrie and love it as well. I was looking for alittle more style with the RS. I have a tendency to ride alittle hard on any bike so I guess I'm looking for more out of the lower gears (torque)
I will admit this is the most comfortable bike I've rode/owned as far as riding position goes. I'm 6' 210 lbs
It cruises nicely at 85 with out being overly busy. I'll do what I can afford and keep you all posted
Thanks again for the input. Buy the way i didn't mean to hurt anyone's feallings when i said the RS was gutless. I just say it like i see it

I've ridden 40 years and the last bike was a purple Kawasaki missle.
I realized the bike had more talent than the rider and decided to go cruising. I haven't regreted it for a moment. I think the Roadie has plenty of HP/torque.......once I put on the V&H ProPipe, BAK and rejetted!!

if you are looking for more torque try a smaller front pulley. it will multiply the torque and give you the seat of the pants difference you wont find without spending a lot of dough elsewhere.
