What front shocks are these 2 Months ago
Does anyone have an idea of what these shock springs are?
I am replacing my front springs and these were in the shock tubes, are these factory or some other brand?

Thanks Steve

Factory springs are much longer. Are there any paint dots on them, white, blue, or yellow?

JD
there are not paint dots on them, did you notice the sleeves are aluminum.
They are actually 2 inches shorter than the progressives I bought

My RaceTechs came with aluminum sleeve material to use as spacers. You might have better springs there than what you are replacing with, if they are ones that are in your rider weight range.

I agree, they LOOK like Race Tech springs. Just wondering about paint dots because that is how they sort their springs at testing.
Why are you changing them? What riding symptoms do you experience?

Where would the paint dots be located, I did not see any on the one spring I picked up?
I had no idea about the springs until I took it apart last night, I was having problems with the play in the steering bearings but this is maybe why I was having those issues. The previous owner had them changed but they did not tighten the top nuts on the steering head, they were finger tight probably causing that play.
When I took it apart last night the fork top nuts had no tension, they were finger tight as well, should there have been some resistance when I was taking them off? I think the spring bushing was well below the top of the fork when I looked in to the fork itself. I also had a lot of dive when hitting the brakes.

I just got done replacing my front springs with Racetech. They look just like them. I didn't notice any paint marks on mine when I got them , but I really wasn't looking for them either. You may just want to reinstall them with new 10 W fork oil and see how they feel. All the advise I got from a lot of good people here on the clinic was that the Racetech springs are a lot better that the progressive. With my new Racetechs the ride is amazing. Top them off with the new Roadwing shock and your set.

As far as the play in the front end. You would really want to take a look at the bearings in the neck and see what condition their in before replacing the springs.

I dont see any shocks i see fork springs and used fork oil

I woukd say race tech based on the uniform spirals. If the spring is 12.5" long its a race tech. Good stuff put them back in

Re:What front shocks are these 2 Months ago
They do not come up to the top of the fork, is that normal?
LOL, you are right, I did put shock, didn't realize it until you just said it.
Do you think I should replace the spacers with longer ones?
Rob
I have another thread with the bearings in my bike, I am trying to figure out if those are all balls bearings.
They look just like the ones I just got in.
Did you replace your steering bearings when you re did your suspension?
