I can appreciate what a horrible situation that this is for you and for your family. And I'm confident that you want to do everything in your power to help the situation. While my practice is Commercial Real Estate, I don't think it's wise to post on a motorcycle forum about a Canadian Family law issue. Quite honestly with an issue like this, I don't think that you would want to rely on the advice of a layperson. How do you know that the advice given to you is accurate. My suggestion is to find a lawyer in your state that practices family law. You can call law firms and ask if they can handle a situation like this. I apologize if I'm coming across in a sarcastic way but I would hate for someone to make a bad situation worse.

I am no lawyer but I do know this. When I was separated (no abuse) the judge gave my wife custody of our son(standard so it seems). The judge made it very very clear that niether her nor I was to take the boy any more than 1 hour from home without the other parent written permission.
I hope all goes well for her. The is NO excuse for abusing women and children.

You'll need to consult with a lawyer, thumpertattoo. I wouldn't even attempt to give ya legal advice.

Who knows what he said to the judge.
The judge signed a motion because your sister transported the kids across the border .... it's called kidnapping.
You need to find a lawyer who also has an understanding of the intricacies of international law ... quickly.
Hope it works out well for your sister .... all my best to her.
