Lots of people run car oil with no problems. But you can't use just any car oil. Does it say "Energy conserving" in the API donut? Is it 20/50 weight?

Re:MOBILE 1 SYNTHETIC 3 Years, 10 Months ago
oils rated sm/sl may or may not say energy conserving but will still have
moly and other substitutes for lower zinc to protect catalytic converters
and is what cars today need but not good for our bikes....

if it is JASO MA rated...dont worry about anything else...an api sl/sm wont be Jaso MA rated period

older car oils and higher viscosity oils for diesel motors..have the lower api ratings and are ok...

but they are not rated for use in "new" car gasoline engines

Don't go dumping that oil. You're fine. There are people here that use it with no problems.

Re:MOBILE 1 SYNTHETIC 3 Years, 10 Months ago
been readin about it and it does say an extra wear additive...is that zinc or moly/teflon.... moly and teflon is a no... no... but zinc is ok..

it is however a higher viscosity..and claims for use in older cars and

diesel motors is confusing...

I dont know for sure but lacking the JASO MA rating like 20w-50 v-twin
and others have makes me wonder

like Musky said it may be OK..

goona do more research here ...I want to know what that extra anti-wear additive is first....

Hey SPUDWRENCH12

Do a search here, on the RSR, or the RSP. You will find a ton of statements like this. These are all direct copy / paste quotes.

"Been running automotive Mobil 1 for 80k miles."

"Been running Royal purple synthetic for 15000 miles no slippage"

"Got 40K on mine with RP synthetic with no issues at all"

All running car oil. All doing fine despite what some standard someone came up with says. If you feel more comfortable running bike specific oil then by all means do. But I wouldn't drain this oil out until it's time for your next change.
