how do i get the lower neck bearing off the tree? 1 Week, 1 Day ago
changing the neck bearings in my 02 and i have the races out and replaced but i cant for the life of me get the lower bearing to budge. i have removed the cage and seal to expose the part pressed onto the stem but i cant get it to move at all. i have been hitting it with a stainless rod and hammer at a angle for 30 minutes and got nothing

any useful tips would be helpful

have a right angle grinder w/ a cut off wheel ? Clamp in a vise, make 2 cuts on opposite sides. Cut almost all the way thru, & finish with a whammarizer

Also, have oxy/acetylene torch ? Warm it, it will slide off

I got it off. Put it in my mill to thin out one side and then it came off.

I tried heat and hanmering.....had to resort to buying an electric die griender/dremel and 1.5 inch cutoff wheel. Heat alone and 5lb brass sledge didn't work. ...had to cut

I got lucky the last time. I was able to get a cold chisel under it and work one side then the other. Once it starts moving, it gets easier and easier.
