so would this be sufficient to run two extra lights under my floors, cause i really hate gettin stranded...

Let's repeat again ....

The 1600 and 1700 have different charging systems, with the 1700 being more robust.

With the way you have your 1600 set up, the additional load that you propose will drain your battery if you run both running lights and floorboard lights at the same time.

You have the newer stronger system. dmfarms has an 02 and the system is pretty weak.

So, does that mean the '05 and older are producing LESS than 300 watts @ 5K RPM...?
That's not a lot!

Doc, I'm looking to add running lights and neons on my 00 1600. What changes can I make to the charging system to do this without having to trickle charge each night.

The 04 1700s have the same weak system as the 1600's. They started in 05 with the stronger system.

You can reduce current draw by replaciing the front running/turn signal, the rear turn signal and the tail/stop lights with LEDs. If you have passing lights with 55 watt bulbs replace them with 35 watt, PIAA has high intensity 35 watt bulbs which have the light out put of 70 watts.
