I added a BAK [speedstar v102] & dually;s to my R*. took forever to get the pipes so i installed the BAK first. even with rejetting/dealer help the bike didnt run well. after the pipes were installed it ran great. for what its worth, open up both ends and let breath or leave it stock

Would the poor mans BAK help with stage 3 stock exhaust mod done and would rejetting still be necessary?that rejetting and messing w/ the carb scares the mess out of me

Wilburn, you would have to try it out first, but chances are, you will need to..don't let it scare you off, if your looking for a little more performance, then go for it,,

Wilburn,
If you went as far as the Stage 3 muffler mod and a poor man's BAK, you will almost certainly need to rejet... if you went one step further, and put a K&N in the air box, you would definitely be rejetting.
I bought a modified air box with a K&N in it, did a Stage 1 mod on the mufflers, and I knew I needed to rejet then.
I rejetted and put my Santee tapered tip muffler exhaust on, and it runs truly sweet. The directions with the jets were incredibly helpful, and their recommended settings seem to be perfect.
It scared me a bit too, but it was a fairly easy afternoon task.

I havent done the poor mans bak yet but I have done the stage 3. I was just wondering if it would make a big enough difference with the bak that would justify me learning something about the jetting process. Its crazy that I can work on milion dollar gas powered compressors that are big as dump trucks and make them purr like kittens, but a little bity carb has me worried.
