2017 NW Starfest M&G - July 13-16 - Albany, OR 6 Months, 3 Weeks ago
The official thread, Stickied and everything!

Updated July 4th. Added Tykes, updated Guest count.

What: 2 days of great riding in the beautiful State of Oregon! This is a Roadstar Clinic meet but any and all bikes welcome (HD's try to keep up and bring a drip mat!) Kidding!

Where: Albany, Oregon @ MikeyC's work place, 1650 Waverly Dr. SE

When: July 13th to 16th, 2017.

A few of us will be meeting up Thursday afternoon & evening at Mikes place for BS'ing and maybe dinner, talk about the planned rides, etc.

Rides:

Please be topped off with fuel both days. Fuel stops both days about the 100 mile mark.

Friday, July 14th,
The covered bridge and ferry tour! Kickstands up promptly at 9am. We will be crossing the Buena Vista ferry and on to several other historic covered bridges in the mid-Willamette Valley with a stop for lunch overlooking Foster Lake. After lunch we will have a scenic ride back to the start point with a stop overlooking the valley. After the ride we will meet back at the start point. We can decide on a place to go for dinner as a group. You can just do the ride or meet afterwards and just dinner and visit and decide on breakfast the next morning. This ride will be about 160 miles in length. (edit - one bridge will be closed mileage slightly shorter.)

Saturday, July 15th,
The Mary’s Peak coastal run! This will be a full day so please, Kickstands up promptly at 9am, Please make sure you are topped off with fuel in Albany before you arrive. We will be riding to the top of the coast range mountains through a scenic twisty ride to the top of Mary’s peak, Back down through the scenic Hwy 34 Alsea River Hwy, out to Waldport and up the coast and stop for lunch at the Rogue Nation Brewery. From there we will have a fuel stop at the 105 mile mark, and inland up through Siletz to Kernville. From there we will go back down the coast with a stop at Depoe Bay for Ice Cream. A trip through the Otter Crest scenic loop and back to Newport and head east back to Albany and we will meet back at the start point. We will have BBQ hamburgers and hot dogs along with side dishes and visit after our ride. Join us for the ride or meet for BBQ afterwards or both! This ride will be along the coast and about 240 miles in length. We may have some adjustments due to time but expect plenty of time to take in the views during the day.

Accomodations: There will be 2 RV's with bed space available on a First come first serve basis. We have a single bunk left in Mikes trailer. PM them for more info.

The wife is getting psyched looking forward to the trip and renting an Indian Chief. She is hoping the ride will be better than the Roadglide we rented in Monterey for the ride down the coast highway. Sore butt.

I'll bet several others would be interested in your opinion on the Indian.

Hi MikeyC.....I don't remember if you posted info on reasonable priced motels close by or not. If you did, I missed it...would you mind refreshing the list?
thanks

You can go to hotels.com and search for Albany, Oregon. Avoid budget inn and Valu-inn. Super 8 is good and I think around $60. Corvallis is a ways away but comes up in that search. I'll add in the best ones for budget mid and hoity-toity class to the post up top when I get some free time to research and read the reviews and what not

Hey Edge,
When I would come home for a visit I always stayed at the motel 6, the super 8 is also a decent place, I think Jay listed the two to really avoid. There are several really nice places here in town also and the rates are not out of site.
Looking forward to seeing you my friend.
