My tension feels tighter on the upper side of the belt than the lower...I just had tires replaced and assume it is set to the proper tension

Grab it in between the pullys and twist to about 45 degrees.If that's all it will twist your good.

when tightening the adjusters do ya need to loosen the axel bolt??

If it is chirping and all you are doing is rolling it backassards I would say check your wheel bearings and I bought the Harley tool for 13 bucks ...had to take a screw out to get rid of the fitting at the top because it would not fit accross the belt and betwen the lower belt guard we have .I put the plastic back on when I check mine.....Coug
