Those look like the stock exhaust headers. I'm surprised the bike will run well at all with just those on there. Second of all the Road Star is supposed to have a smooth idle thanks to the 45 pound crankshaft. The idle you say you like isn't normal at all. You'd be better off with the stock mufflers on it.
