o.k. got that taken care of, now, just how close do the ends of the pipes match up. mine are off just a little, is this normal or should they be dead nuts even? This is turning in to kinda pain in butt. i sure hope it's worth it and i don't screw anything up.

hammersly,

Mine are off, ever so slightly, but they are off. I tried to get them lined up, but wasn't able to and still get a good seal at the heads.

04roadrider, I am thinking of getting those pipes for my *. How do they sound? My adult supervision says that I can't get pipes that are too loud. At this time I have stage 1 mods to my stock pipes. Are they louder or about the same as stage 1? Thanks Stan

I had HK 3" pipes in o6 when I first got my bike.....you can set off a car alarm as you ride by it when you crack the throttle. It was better than a horn anyday ...unless they have changed their system and your concern is noise ...look elsewhere IMHO ....Coug

Stan,

Mine are VERY loud, and yes, I do have the baffles in them. I have heard that the res-tech versions aren't as loud, but I've never heard them personally. Got mine in 05, so the res-techs weren't available. Don't get me wrong, I do like the sound, especially if I'm riding with a group of HDs who think their bikes are big and bad! , but I do wish they were a bit more quiet. I did do the crumb cup mod, but wasn't happy with the fluffing sound they made, so I took them out.

Hammersly, sorry, don't want to hijack your thread.

P.S. They do look awesome bolted onto that big v-twin though!!!
